What is a DBSC?

A DBSC is used to retain a Bend Stiffener in place on a riser (in the O&G world), umbilical or cable (for wind applications) . A Bend Stiffener is designed to stop a riser, umbilical or cable from over bending.

Floating wind turbines require 2 electrical powers cables (in and out) of each turbine, 2 connectors per turbine. Typically power cables are fitted up through the bottom of the floating wind platform, below sea. The cable is then winched upwards and terminated above sea. Out latching mechanism is designed to automatically lock onto a new or existing I tube by latching on to the back side of the flange face.

We are partnering with offshore wind developers, OEMs, cable manufacturers to ensure the system and technology is factored in early FEED, design stages so that related dependencies such as platform connections, cables, platform I-Tubes are compatible and also tested correctly.

Tether Clamps for Umbilical Subsea SURF Configurations

Tether Clamps are used to support and control the movement of subsea umbilical's, risers and cables (or pipelines) as they rise from the seabed to the surface, by securely clamping to the cable or pipeline and connecting it to the seabed via the Tether System.

Our design includes 360 degree swivel arrangement which eliminates any torsional loads to the cable.

History

We have worked with DBSC connectors since 2010, projects such as "Goliat" with ENI, Technip and ABB, originally in the Oil and Gas sector. We have first hand experience of the complexities of typical designs which led us to thinking that there must be a better way, a simpler solution. There are pros and cons to different technologies, however the simpler something can be generally the easier, cheaper, more reliable and greener it is to produce.

Areas of use/ retrofit

Our technology can be used for both new installations and also to replace old defunct/ unreliable DBSCs that are currently in service.

The potential

So far the technology has been demonstrated (and unofficially endorsed) by the following customers and their leading cable ancillary SMEs;

  • Petrobras

  • 2hoffshore

  • SBMoffshore

  • Aker Solutions

  • SLB

  • Subsea7

  • Equinor

  • BlueFloat

  • Saitec

  • Windstaller Aliance

  • CarbonTrust

  • Flowic

  • ORE Catapult

...the best innovation I have seen in a long time...

Other products include;

Weak Links

Weak links are typically used to limit the tensile stress in mooring lines and can be used alongside tether clamps.

Weak links can also be used for umbilical cable pull in systems to allow for cable ancillaries to be pulled into place during cable installation.

Field Joint Pipe Line Protection Systems

We design and manufacture Field Joint protection systems to not only protect the joint to also to add additional thermal insulation properties.
